"Before Delight Care, my daughter rarely left the house. Now she goes to her pottery class every Thursday, has joined a walking group, and even attended the Redcliffe Festival with her support worker. The transformation has been incredible."

How It Works

Starting Your Community Journey

1

Tell Us What You Enjoy

We have a conversation about your interests, hobbies, and the things you have always wanted to try but needed support to do.

2

Build Your Activity Plan

Together we create a schedule of activities that align with your NDIS goals, whether that is social connection, skill building, or simply having fun.

3

Match With Your Worker

We pair you with a local support worker who fits your personality and shares interests, making every outing feel natural and comfortable.

4

Get Out and Grow

You start attending activities at your own pace. We check in regularly, celebrate your progress, and adjust the plan as your confidence builds.

Common Questions About Community Access

We know navigating NDIS community participation can feel confusing at first. Here are straightforward answers to the questions families and participants ask us most.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) focuses on help inside your home with daily living tasks. Community Access Support, sometimes called Social and Community Participation, is about getting out into the community, joining activities, building social skills, and accessing services and events. They complement each other but are funded and delivered separately under the NDIS.
Community access typically falls under "Social and Community Participation" within your Capacity Building budget. In some cases, transport costs may be covered under the "Transport" budget line. During your planning meeting, it helps to describe the specific activities you want to do so the right funding is allocated to your plan.
Absolutely. You are in control. We will never push you into activities that do not interest you. Our role is to help you explore options, try new things if you want to, and support you in doing the things you already love. Your activity plan is built entirely around your goals and preferences.
We can support you either way. If you are comfortable using public transport, we can travel alongside you and help build your confidence on buses and trains. If you need accompanied transport in a vehicle, we can arrange that too. We also help with travel training so you can eventually navigate routes independently if that is one of your goals.
The number of hours depends entirely on what is included in your NDIS plan. Some participants have a few hours a week, others have daily support. We work within the funding you have and help you get the most value from every hour. If you feel your current plan does not provide enough community access, we can provide supporting documentation for your next review.
Yes, community access can be a stepping stone toward employment. We can help you attend job readiness programmes, visit potential workplaces, practice interview skills in the community, and explore volunteer opportunities. While we do not provide direct employment support (that falls under a different NDIS category), we help build the social confidence and community connections that make employment possible.
